ZAREA’s story begins all the way back in 1912, in Bucharest, at a time when Romania was entering a modern era of winemaking and spirit production. Founded by Wilhelm Mott, a German entrepreneur passionate about sparkling wines, ZAREA became one of the first Romanian companies to produce méthode champenoise sparkling wines at scale. As he was coming from a family with centuries-old tradition in the field, Wilhem learned the basic principles of producing sparkling wine in Germany.
Through world wars, political transitions and global trends, ZAREA remained a constant in Romanian households, a symbol of celebration, resilience and national pride.
