A history dating back to 1447...

The first pages of the story of the wine from Cramele Recas were written starting in 1447, through the existence of a notarial document, currently in the treasury of the Banat Museum, which confirms the first official attestation of the Recas Domains in written sources.

This document attests to the fact that Mihail de Ciorna, the ban of Severin, had bought the vineyards on these lands from the nobles Ioan and Ecaterina Magyar for 32 florins (the Hungarian gold coin that circulated at the time).

A special cultural and historical heritage...

In the development of the vineyards on the lands of Recas over many years, we find an important component of the local culture over centuries, transformed over time into a true symbol of Banat, taking into account that over time, the usual wine from the fruit of the Recas vineyards has was used as a currency of exchange in trade relations between the East and the West.

Over time, the vineyards in Recas belonged, one by one, either to the Hungarians or the Austrians, who understood and fully appreciated their value, taking care of them with skill and appreciation, like the Serbs, Swabians, Croats and the Romanians who followed them.

Following the present, facing the future...

The year 1991 represents one of the most important milestones connecting the past with the present: in this year the company Cramele Recas was born, with the mission of taking over the heritage of tradition and culture from the ancient artisans of these lands, but also to complete the trajectory development of the quality of Banat wine from Recas with significant investments, innovation and passion.

Currently, Cramele Recas is a Romanian-British company, which exploits approximately 1,200 hectares of vines in Recas (Timis county) on the West side of Romania, close to the border with Hungary, occupying the first place in the list of Romanian wine producers by turnover, as well as the title of the largest exporter of bottled wine from Romania.
