Vivino rating: 4.1 / 5Chateau Purcari is Moldova’s premier winery, founded as early as 1827 when it was granted the title of first official winery in Bessarabia, Moldova’s predecessor. The winery is famed for being a favourite of Queen Elizabeth I, its use of indigenous grapes and its similarities to Bordeaux wine. The two locations are located at a similar latitude and Purcari soils are remarkably similar to those in Bordeaux.
Nocturne is Chateau Purcari’s latest range of high-quality wines. The grapes for this one were harvested in the dead of night, to preserve their quality and structure.
Purcari Nocturne Chardonnay is distinguished by its intense aroma, dominated by flowers and exotic fruits. It has a full and opulent taste, complemented by notes of almond and vanilla, followed by a long and pleasant aftertaste. This wine is aged for six months in French oak barrels to enhance its complexity and texture.
Aroma: this dry white wine possess a rich bouquet of ripe yellow fruits, citrus zest and exotic fruits complemented by subtle hints of butterscotch.
Tasting notes: the taste is elegant and full, with a harmonious balance of fruit and acidity. Notes of vanilla and almonds complement the wine’s creamy texture, leading to a long and satisfying finish. Traditional, broad and creamy style of Chardonnay, however the balancing acidity enables the wine to retain a sense of harmony.
