Old meets new and local meets global. A 20-year old vineyard in a region known for winemaking since the 14th century, the Davino winery showcases the modernisation and grand aspirations of the Romanian winemaking industry.
The Davino Vast Red pairs one of Romania’s native grapes, Feteasca Neagra, with global standards Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Thanks in part to Davino’s wonderful clay soils, the result is a wine big on spice, fruit and tannins without being overpowering.
Davino emphasises healthy vineyards and sustainable cultivation, with a focus on pruning to reduce yields and focus flavour in the remaining grapes. As a result, their wines are terroir-forward and give drinkers a window into what hard work, passion and clear vision can mean for an ascendant wine region.
Silky and strong with lots of fruit, look for cherry, blackberries and chocolate on the nose, with plenty of spice and warmth on the palate.
