Cotnari ZAZ Rose is a sparkling wine produced in the Cotnari region of Romania.
It is made using the traditional method, meaning the second fermentation takes place in the bottle, giving the wine a fine and delicate character.
ZAZ is an acronym for “The Archaeological Heritage of the Cotnari and Husi Wine Regions” (Zestrea Arheologica a Zonelor viticole Cotnari si Husi), referring to the rich history of the area.
The wine is made from indigenous grape varieties such as Feteasca Neagra, Busuioaca de Bohotin and Francusa, while its delicate pink colour is achieved by macerating the grapes for a few hours before fermentation. The taste is off-dry, with aromas of forest berries and a pleasant acidity.
