Via Viticola – Sarica Niculitel is a land of ancient winemaking tradition, blessed by the sun that embraces the Sarica and Niculițel hills and refreshed by the cooling influence of the nearby Danube.
Aligote is the flagship variety of the Niculitel vineyard. Originally from Burgundy, France, this grape emerged at the end of the 17th century through the natural crossing of Gouais Blanc and Pinot Noir.
The journey to establish Sarica Niculitel Aligote on the international stage reached a major milestone in March 2019, when Caii de la Letea Aligote ranked No. 1 worldwide on Vivino, the world’s leading wine-rating platform. The wine also received a Gold Medal at the 2019 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, becoming the first Romanian Aligote to win a gold medal and the only Aligote worldwide to receive a Gold Medal at the competition in 2019.
Winner also of the Gold Medal at the 2017 IWCB, Balkan IWCF and LWC UK (2023) this Aligote is one of the flagship wines of the Danube Delta, a region renowned for its exceptional terroir for this grape variety. Produced in a limited edition, Caii de la Letea Aligote pairs beautifully with fish and seafood dishes, while also complementing fine cheeses.

Tasting notes
Caii de la Letea Volume 2 Aligote displays fresh vegetal aromas of newly cut grass and damp earth. Flavours of ripe white fruit and green apples are balanced by its naturally high acidity, while notes of citrus, wormwood and chicory on the finish create a refreshing, well-balanced wine.
Bright straw yellow with green reflections, the wine immediately expresses freshness through aromas of white flowers, pollen, ripe yellow fruit, and a subtle mineral note. The varietal character shines on the palate, where green apple and damp earth flavours are enhanced by lively acidity and pronounced minerality. The medium-length finish continues this elegant mineral profile, perfectly balancing the sweet apple notes.
Aligote takes center stage in the Niculitel vineyard, and this wine proudly showcases its unique character. A bouquet of vegetable fragrances, reminiscent of freshly mowed grass and moist soil, greets the senses. The taste unfolds with the balance of ripe white fruits and green apples, harmonised by a high natural acidity.
